Davis & May
Behind the production of DAVIS & MAY are 2 talented guys wich came together in 2003 and are today working in every free minute of their day as devotionful musicians. Ryan Davis played the guitar since he was 8 years. He fell in love with electronic music in 1999. After first Dj experiences in 2001 he began to produce with a lot of low quality programs.Since he met Lanny they’ve been workin with Logic and got a lot more producing skills. Lanny May made is own first Dj experiences in 1997. After that he had a lot of gigs over a few years, but other tasks stopped him for a little while. He also worked in a vinyl shop and was always influenced by the latest sounds.. By a fluke Lanny and Ryan became friends. Since that day they share their passion for electronic music. With their own labels Maripoza and digitaly *Back Home / Klangwelt they push out some new, future sounding experimental stuff, big dancetunes of themselves and also new talented artists wich have an eye for what will coming up. The first release on Maripoza jumped on a Gigolo Compilation and also their last one is singed for an new Mix CD. Feel invited to keep in touch with these two guys, for more interesting and forward thinking music wich is made to love it… Davis & May worked with Labels like Parquet, Manual, Turbo, Natura Sonoris, Klanggymnastik, Karate Musik, Audiobahn, Piemont, Proton Music, Neurotraxx and many more. They remixed Minilogue, Tiga, Umek, Moonbeam, Phunklarique, Dejonka,Tom Wax, Terje Bakke etc and played by Dj Sasha , John Digweed, James Holden, Way out West, Ramon Tapia, Jesse Somfay, Moonbeam, Henry Saiz, Tiga, Carl Cox, Umek, Joy Kittikonti, Funk D Void and Nudisko.
Verbose is UK based artist Allan Richmond. Sometimes beautiful, sometimes dark and chaotic, his music is a unique marriage of quiet and loud melancholia, undercurrents of electronica and hypnotic post rock – a soundtrack to loneliness, isolation and rejection. Musically inspired by diverse artists such as Autechre, Cult Of Luna, Mono, Mogwai and 65daysofstatic and adopting themes from an ongoing obsession with Japanese cinema and literature (Haruki Murakami in particular), Verbose takes another step torwards defining his intended sound.
Vector Lovers
Vector Lovers is the moniker used by electronic music producer Martin Wheeler of the United Kingdom. Wheeler is described by the soma label as a “computer nerd†and “80s-obsessed knob-twiddler†and creates music which falls into the intelligent dance music (IDM) and electro genres. His music has been compared to and is influenced by such acts as Kraftwerk and Depeche Mode.
Vector Lovers unique production style is winning him fans across the globe. With nods to musical influences such as Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode and early synth pop to The Happy Mondays and Velvet Underground. Nowadays Vector Lovers is listening to modern electronic geniuses like Isan, Boards Of Canada and Aphex Twin, and labels like Toytronic, AI and Ghostly International. This release is also a new direction for Soma with its deep and dreamy electronic lullabies.
Vector Lovers came to Soma’s attention through his own Iwari.com label and his two limited single releases, the ‘Roboto Ashido Funk EP’ and the 7†‘Electrobotik Disco / Girl & Robot’. These two releases were big sellers in Glasgow’s specialist record shop Rub A Dub and Martin also performed a live set at Paisley’s legendary Club 69. An endorsement to his music if ever there was one! The Iwari.com label continues to release the best in electronic music with recent releases from Scape One and Namke Communications. A Soma connection was coincidentally revealed when Fenetik artist Sidewinder announced he was friends with Martin from when they both lived in Reading in the early 90’s. The two restored communication and Martin soon became the latest signing on Soma’s ever-expanding roster. Iwari also means ‘drunken corruption’ in Japanese…he was always going to get on well with the Soma crew!
Martin will release his 4th album later this year.
