Chez N Trent – Prescription Underground EP

Label:
Catalog#: PRES103
Format: Vinyl, 12″, 33 ⅓ RPM, EP
Country: US
Released: 1994
Genre: Electronic
Style: Deep House

This is probably my favorite deep house record of all time. Right as the sun is about to rise, put this record on and the experience will turn into a beautiful memory right before your very eyes… deep synths, a vocal compelling you to “put your hand in my flame” that manages to be alluring without being cheesy — it’s a perfect way to end the night.

Tracks:

A The Choice
B Morning Factory

Octave One – Conquered Nation

Label:
Catalog#: 4W-245
Format: Vinyl, 12″, 33 ⅓ RPM
Country: US
Released: 1995
Genre: Electronic
Style: Techno

This is exactly what I think about when people talk about Detroit’s techno. Subtle, wonderful, with such a fantastic melody… This is a 12″ that everyone with a slight interest in Detroit’s electronic music should own. It’s been more than 10 years that this record has been released, but it still sound as fresh today.

Convextion – Convextion (Matrix 001)

Label:
Catalog#: MATRIX1
Format: Vinyl, 12″
Country: US
Released: 15 Dec 1995
Genre: Electronic
Style: Techno

Gerard Hanson remains one of the great techno mysteries and not really known outside of a very dedicated audience of specialists.
For those who do recognize the name, this first Matrix release is a serious classic, a must have and I myself agree with that 100%.
Something very unique happens not by accident on this record. Very deep minimal techno coming from Texas is a needle in a haystack. If you own this on vinyl you know exactly why this record commands top dollar even 13 years after its initial release.
It dated nicely and even though the masses would never understand how to define the sound of pure techno, Gerald commands those who do with almost “drink the purple juice” type of authority. Running alongside Basic Channel this is a must have for all serious collectors and worth the $100 to own a mint copy

G-Man – G-Man

Label:
Catalog#: Vwm9
Format: Vinyl, 12″, 33 ⅓ RPM
Country: UK
Released: 1995
Genre: Electronic
Style: Techno, Minimal

Incredible techno record, ‘Quo Vardis’ was made in 1994, released 95, and even if you can feel the influences of Maurizio and DBX here, G-Man’s music is more techy and dancefloor focused (that amazing acid line buildt on top!) and this is probably a genre-defining record, one of the songs that invented minimal-house as we know it (together with some Schatrax, Peter Ford and Thomas Melchior productions from that era). Already one half of LFO, Gez Varley definitely proves with this record (and the amazing followers G-Man II and the Kushti album) that he can be a genius! Works every time, one of my all-time top10 techno records.
